Reflexology can bring physical and emotional relief.
Some emotions are pleasurable, and some just aren't.
I never knew I could suffer jealousy as I do until recently. I've likely held-down my feelings of jealousy. Now, I'm discovering how that emotion shows-up (or is resisted) in my body and my life. I'm finding my way to being attentive to that part of myself that feels jealous, but it's a challenge because I don't like that feeling.
Do you ever get a feeling you wish would just go away?
Sometimes we set aside our feelings. At times, life seems to demand it. Do you know where that feeling goes when you set it aside? Most likely into the tissues of your body. Emotions are energy flowing through our body. Think about what happens to your body when you FEEL mad, glad, sad, or scared--there is a bodily sensation. It takes a lot of energy to HOLD emotion, to stop that flow of energy. If there is no space to feel the feeling, physical structure can conform to the holding pattern.
Holding patterns also show-up in the feet, a mirror to the body. Patterns we work with during your reflexology session often have a story, or stories, within them. As we "tweak" patterns in the feet that are "stuck", we may dislodge emotions that have been stuck. This energetic movement might prompt a physical sensation, a deepening of the breath, a "feeling", or even an awareness or memory in the mind. Any of these is indication of integrating the experience, and can relieve congestion within the holding pattern.
